Carefully read these 16 tips to prep your home for photos.
1. Clear Off Counter Tops
Besides an occasional soap dispenser or center piece, clear all counter tops, table tops, and desks. The more open the space, the bigger the room feels.
Also, take photos and magnets off your fridge.
2. Hide Extra Furniture
The empty spaces allow the buyer to better picture their own furniture in the home. Unless your garage has unique features or noteworthy cabinetry, your garage can be the perfect storing facility.
3. Clean Windows
Especially if your home has a stunning view, dirty windows can taint the view.
4. Limit Personal Pictures and Beliefs
The goal is to help the buyer believe this house can become their home. Religious photographs and extensive family portraits could create an unwanted sense of distaste.
5. Hide Any Trace of a Pet
Some of your buyers may not be pet people, and the stigma of pets injuring homes could be a deal breaker. Hide all dog beds, cages, and drinking bowls.
6. Clean Dust Off Surfaces
Even dust on the floor can be distracting in Photos.
7. Hide Holiday Specific Decorations
After the holiday is past, holiday decorations then date the home on listing sites.
8. Check Your Backyard
Hide hoses, trim bushes, recover grass patches, and straighten chairs.
9. Simplify Items On Shelves and Closets
Normal closets easily look messy in photos. You don't need to completely clear out your closet, but the more open space the better.
10. Avoid Trash Day
When the photographer is shooting your home, your neighbors' bright blue trash cans are easily distracting in exterior and drone shots. Although it's not necessary, consider setting up an appointment at a time that doesn't align with trash day.
15 Minutes Before Your Photographer Arrives
Final touches to make your home photo ready
1. Turn On All Lights
This includes lamps, windows, and ceiling lights. The brighter the room, the more inviting.
2. Turn Off All Fans
The movement makes it impossible to see the fan blades. Movement also captures movements badly when using HDR Photography.
3. Turn Off All TVs
The changing image doesn't work for HDR photography and also distracts potential buyers.
4. Turn On Fires and Fountains
These are selling points of your home and deserve to be shown off.
5. Open Pool and Hottub Covers
Turn on pool mood lights and remove grill covers.
6. Straighten Pillows and Barstools
Photos make unevenly spaced barstools very apparent.
